Carmarthenshire is the "Garden of Wales" — a well-watered, lush county that connects the Pembrokeshire coast to the Brecon Beacons and serves as a gateway to the wider region. The Tywi Valley running through the county's heart is flanked by castles (Carreg Cennen, Dinefwr, Llandovery) and some of the most beautiful pastoral scenery in Wales.

The southern fringe of the Brecon Beacons National Park — including the Black Mountain (distinct from the Black Mountains on the English border) and Fforest Fawr — runs through the county's north. Farm sites in the upper Tywi and Cothi valleys are excellent bases for the Beacons peaks without the Brecon town crowds.

Llandeilo is perhaps Carmarthenshire's finest town — an elegant Georgian market town above the Tywi with an excellent food scene and easy access to Dinefwr Park. Farm camping near Llandeilo combines convenience with genuine rural character.
