Van Life Campsites in Snowdonia
Snowdonia National Park โ Eryri in Welsh โ is the most dramatic landscape in England and Wales, with Snowdon (the highest peak south of the Scottish Highlands), the rugged Glyderau and Carneddau ranges, and a coastline of estuaries and dune-backed beaches on its western edge.
Farm camping in Snowdonia is well established โ Llanberis (for Snowdon), the Ogwen Valley (for the Glyderau), and the Conwy Valley are all surrounded by good sites at reasonable prices. The Rhinog mountains on the national park's western edge are the wildest and least visited part of Snowdonia โ utterly magnificent and rarely crowded.
The Llลทn Peninsula extends west from Snowdonia โ a narrow finger of land with a distinct Welsh character, excellent beaches at Aberdaron and Whistling Sands, and farm camping that is among the simplest and most peaceful in Wales. Bardsey Island (Ynys Enlli) at the peninsula's tip is an ancient pilgrimage site accessible by boat from Aberdaron.

The Llanberis Pass and Pen-y-Pass car park are extremely busy on summer weekends โ Snowdon queues are real. Use farm sites in the Gwynant or Conwy valleys for early morning starts. The Llลทn Peninsula lanes are narrow but beautiful.
Frequently Asked Questions

Yes โ several farm sites in the Llanberis, Nant Gwynant, and Ogwen Valley areas are within a few miles of the main Snowdon trailheads. Most have good road access and are suitable for vans up to 7m.
Can I wild camp in Snowdonia in a van?
Wild camping is not a legal right in Wales. Backcountry camping on the open mountain is generally tolerated by the national park for lightweight campers, but this does not extend to vehicles. Use designated sites or seek landowner permission.
