Van Life Campsites in Stirlingshire
Stirlingshire sits at the meeting point of Highland and Lowland Scotland — Stirling Castle itself is built on the volcanic crag that marks this boundary. For van lifers, the county offers easy access to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park from the south while retaining the quieter character of the wider Highlands.
Loch Lomond's east shore (the A811 and B837 side) is significantly less crowded than the popular west shore at Balloch. Farm sites around Rowardennan and Inversnaid are well positioned for the West Highland Way and the Ben Lomond summit. The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Authority manages several designated camping zones — the bank permit system applies.
The Trossachs — Rob Roy country — are beautiful and accessible. Loch Katrine, the Achray Forest, and the Braes of Balquhidder around Rob Roy's grave are all within a short drive of good farm camping. Callander is the most useful town base.

Loch Lomond bank camping requires a permit from the National Park in peak season — check the LLTNPA website before arriving. The east shore via Drymen and Rowardennan is far quieter than Balloch and Luss.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a permit to camp on Loch Lomond?
Seasonal camping-management zones apply around parts of Loch Lomond; check and book through the National Park. Tent access rights and permits do not automatically authorise overnight vehicle parking, so campervans must use a permitted vehicle stop or campsite.
