Van Life Campsites in Sussex
Sussex combines a spectacular chalk coastline — including the iconic Seven Sisters and Beachy Head — with the gentle hills and ancient woodland of the High Weald AONB. Both have good options for van camping.
The South Downs National Park runs the length of Sussex from Eastbourne to the Hampshire border, and the ridge walk along the chalk escarpment is one of England's finest. Farm sites in the Cuckmere Valley and around Alfriston are well positioned for walkers and give easy access to the Cuckmere Haven coastal stretch — arguably the finest beach in Sussex.
West Sussex is a little more gentle: rolling farmland, ancient market towns like Midhurst and Petworth, and good farm camping in the Rother Valley. Brighton is a useful city stop for provisions but van overnights in the city itself are tricky — use sites a few miles north in the Downs instead.

The South Downs Way is increasingly popular with cyclists — farm sites along its length fill quickly in summer. Book ahead or aim for midweek stays. Brighton seafront parking is heavily enforced.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I park overnight near the Seven Sisters in a van?
Overnight parking in the Seven Sisters Country Park car park is not permitted. Use one of the farm sites in our directory in the Cuckmere Valley — most are a short walk from the coast.
