Van Life Campsites in Hampshire

Be the first to list a site here

Hampshire has two of England's finest landscapes for van lifers: the New Forest National Park and the South Downs National Park, both accessible from the county's extensive minor road network.

The New Forest is unique — ancient woodland, open heath, and free-roaming livestock create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in England. Ordinary Forestry England car parks in the New Forest close overnight and must not be used for sleeping in a vehicle. Use a designated campsite or a separately advertised, pre-booked authorised stopover.

The South Downs chalk escarpment offers magnificent views from the North over the Weald, and farm sites in the Meon Valley and around Petersfield are well positioned for both walking and cycling. The Hampshire coast from Lymington to Chichester Harbour has several marina-adjacent sites that welcome van lifers, particularly those exploring by kayak or paddleboard.

Van Life Tips for Hampshire

New Forest bylaws are specific about where vehicles can stop — use only designated areas and do not park on the open forest. Summer is very busy; aim for shoulder season visits.
